]-[appy Christmas AKQA Style
In on an analogue tip this year, creative and concept by CDs Colin and Jim.
Merry Xmas all. Really wanted to make an Xmas film again this year but a December-long bug has attacked me and I decided to fight that instead. Maybe a happy new year one is called for!

Tier Kunst
A new movement in Germany features live animals at the center of the art pieces. 2 choice examples below are interesting to look at, but raise questions as to the legality of the pieces.
Running With The Beast features 2 white chickens dyed different colours, fighting on a white piece of card to generate random, Jackson Pollock style imagery
Souvenir De Chine is a video for a French band by a German director which makes a living kaleidoscope using mice, ducks, pheasants and whatever else they could get away with
Both works insist that no animals were harmed, but they look pretty damn confused!

Playing with Pretty Particles

Auditorium is a fantastic game incorporating streaming particle effects and gravity in flash. Looks pretty, sounds great and feel fresh.

The Submersable Amber Spyglass

Good summery of Foster's interactive campaign here. Cool idea well executed that communicates a product benefit. Very much like the Kronenbourg TV ads, but more digital i.e. cooler.

4mations is a video-sharing site aimed at bringing together the best animation from around the world. The project is a collaboration between Channel 4, Aardman animations and Lupus Films and there are all sorts of rewards for people who upload their work: cash prizes for popular content, competitions, opportunities to pitch for commissions, even the chance to get on telly.
Over the next few they'll we'll be adding loads of new features and content as we get ready to for the full public launch in mid-September.

When Brands get YouTube

A user took some video screen capture of a glitch in the Tiger Woods golf title from EA showing how the ball could be played by walking over a water hazard and swinging as if the pond were dry land.
EA noticed the video, then produced and posted the video response below. Good to see a company taking notice of its userbase and carrying on the conversation rather than producing some kind of "official response".
Kudos.

AFTERimg

The nature of our visual system allows us to sometimes see "after-images" which appear once the original stimuli are removed. In the following demonstration, you will see that the colors in after-images are usually the opposite (complementary) colors of the original.
Stare at the black spot in the center of the four colored squares for about 30 seconds. Then scroll down and move your gaze to the black spot in the uniform white area.

Mirror++
Mirror++ by Juha Huuskonen makes crazy musical kaleidoscopes from whatever its wall mounted camera can see. Installed in the museum of modern art, Helsinki, the viewer can walk into the spotlight and create their own interactive artwork, bringing image and performance together.
